Geologist and gemmologist, CETEM RIo De Janeiro
Carolina Santiago studied Geology at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, where she wrote her final work about the mineralogical and gemological characterization of a rare occurrence of green Opals with cat´s eye effect.
She was an intern at Brazil´s Federal Laboratory of Gemological Research (LAPEGE) for three years during her bachelor studies and worked two more years in the same laboratory as a geologist researcher. During those five years her tasks included identification of gemological materials, research concerning the cause of color in some minerals, development of a non-destructive methodology for gold analysis in metal alloys and spectroscopic characterization of minerals.
Since 2017 is doing her master on “Materials Chemistry and Mineralogy” at Bremen Universität.
